Internet Use Policy
Access by patrons to electronic formats at the Marlboro Free Library is an extension of the Library's responsibility to provide effective sources to assist patrons in locating information. Internet services may be used only for lawful purposes.

The Board of Trustees affirms the American Library Association's "Code of Ethics" which states in part:

"... We uphold the principles of Intellectual freedom and resist all attempts to censor library resources consulted, borrowed, acquired or transmitted..."

"...We protect each Library user's right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired or transmitted.."

The Board of Trustees respects the responsibility of parents to monitor their children's reading and access to information. It is not the obligation of either the Board or the Library staff to monitor or review minors, or any patrons utilization of databases or information sources accessed at the Library.

Library Staff are delegated the authority to: 1) insure Marlboro patrons have first priority in use of such terminals; and 2) when and if demand necessitates, make such rules as may be required or are appropriate to limit time spent by patrons accessing the Internet and other electronic information resources.

Community Room Use Policy
Requests for the use of the space are made to the Library Director. Requests are scheduled in the order in which they are received. A Community Room Use Application Form may be obtained at the Marlboro Free Library.

Community Room space is available for the gathering of any responsible group or organization, civic, educational, intellectual, or cultural whose purpose is legal and whose conduct is in accord with Library rules and regulations. The Library does not necessarily advocate or endorse the viewpoints of meetings or meeting room users. Use of the room is free of charge. Any group which is authorized to use the Community Room space shall not be allowed to charge admission for any program.

The Library Board reserves the right to cancel any program that it deems inappropriate or inconsistent with the Library's stated goals and objectives, or inappropriate for the Library facility. If a request for Community Room use is, for any reason, denied by the Library Director, the person or group may appeal the decision directly to the Board of Trustees, through the Board President.
